Before the Breast Reduction Surgery

Before the surgery, your suitability for surgery is evaluated by healthcare providers. In this sense, your doctor examines your medical background, evaluates your general health status, talks with you about your concerns and expectations, and gives you the information about the whole process (before, during, and post-operation). Laboratory and mammogram tests are done. Also, your breast size is measured, the anesthesia method is determined and your breasts’ photographs are taken.

During the operation, the surgeon made incisions and removes the excess fat with liposuction. Excess breast skin and tissue are also removed for reducing the size of the breasts. If there is an asymmetry between the breasts, the surgeon fixes this problem. The size of the areolas might be reduced and nipples might be relocated.

After the Breast Reduction Surgery

After the surgery, the relevant area will be covered with bandages. There may be a small tube placed under the arms for draining the blood. It is possible to experience pain for a while after the operation. Your doctor will prescribe painkillers for that. Scars and bruises are expected to be seen around the relevant area. You may also feel tenderness. These side effects are temporary, and they will fade out in time. You should not do strenuous exercises for about 2 to 4 weeks. Your complaints will go away when full recovery is complete. The results can be noticed immediately.
